Tax preparation & planning
Filed on time, planned before December.
Individual and business returns, year-round tax planning, and a dedicated program for physicians. Because we often keep the books too, the return starts from numbers we already trust.
Returns we prepare
Individuals and businesses
Individuals
Form 1040 with W-2, investment, rental and self-employment income, plus Schedule C for 1099 professionals.
S corporations & partnerships
Forms 1120-S and 1065, with K-1s delivered in time for owners to file.
C corporations
Form 1120 and estimated tax planning for closely held corporations.
Texas franchise tax
Annual reports and Public Information Reports filed with the Comptroller.
Estimated payments
Quarterly estimates calculated from current-year books, not last year's return.
IRS and state notices
Help understanding and answering notices on returns we prepared.
Tax planning
Planning happens in the fall, not in April
By the time a return is prepared, most of the decisions that set the tax bill are already made. We meet with planning clients before year-end to model the choices that are still open.
- Entity choice and S corporation elections
- Reasonable compensation and owner distributions
- Retirement plan contributions and their effect on the §199A deduction
- Timing of income, equipment purchases and depreciation
- Roth conversions in low-income years
For physicians
The MediTax program
Tax preparation and planning built around how physicians are actually paid: W-2 hospital income, K-1s from practice groups, 1099 locum and moonlighting income, and the retirement plans that go with each.
- One planning meeting each fall, with a written projection
- Coordination of practice, personal and retirement plan numbers
- Specified service business limits on the §199A deduction modeled on your actual return
